Halloween 2008
Posted by berkeleyscot on November 1, 2008
Last year I was dithering about opening the door to trick-or-treaters
I did buy a bag of candy, switched on the porch light and waited.
This year, I sense a difference and I am not preparing for trick-or-treaters.
The Halloween display in the supermarket looks more subdued this year. There are fewer bags of candy and there are no cheap, nasty, battery operated, talking, skeleton heads.
A local church, the YMCA and the pumpkin sales lot are all holding Halloween parties, with traditional games and prizes
I’m sure all the bairns will win a prize. No one will be left out.
Today, I looked at a few photos of the trick-or-treaters that came, when we first moved to the house. I even bought one a Robin Hood costume.
Now, they no longer live here. Some have married and have their own trick-or-treaters, some are away at college.
Maybe, next year, we’ll have a new crop of wee ones with their ill fitting, but cute costumes, holding their wee buckets out for a piece of candy.
